You knew…

You knew,
this wasn’t what
I really wanted.

You knew,
I yearned to leave
but didn’t know how.

You knew,
I would have stayed
mostly out of loyalty.

You knew,
I always tried to see the good in all circumstances.

You knew,
I swallowed more than I deserved
because I abhor confrontation.

You knew,
my frustration and tiredness
of the entire situation.

You knew,
my inner desires,
my passions and my goals.

You knew,
I’m not much for fanfare
but gave me a dramatic exit nonetheless.

You knew,
I wouldn’t understand
your methods in the moment.

You knew,
in the end this path
would make me stronger.

You knew,
it all and so you set me free.
Thank you Lord. Amen.

The Silent Worrior

She sat
for what seemed like forever,
flat on the floor
with her back against the wall.

Her hands ached,
her shoulders were tight,
her legs were numb,
her feet were swollen.

Her spirit willed her to move
but her body resisted.
Life for her has never been easy
and this was no different.

Her journey ahead
triggered a sense of panic.
Her chest tightened,
her stomach was in knots.

She was so tired
of the endless struggle.
She wanted it all to stop
but quitting was not an option.

The tears filled her eyes
as she prayed for strength.
She has learned very well
to push through the pain.

One day things will get better…
Her faith is strong!
She believes there’s a reason
for everything, even this!

A one-sentence story: Effervescence

Effervescently, I bubbled
like a freshly opened
bottle of sparkling water,
determined to be
full of joy all day long.

Random Act Of Kindness: June 11 2017

image

She stood alone at the bus stop;
a new girl in town;
taking life one day at at time;
working towards a better tomorrow.

An unassuming gentleman
approached her politely,
then handed her something —
it was a gift card.

She looked up from her open hand
to see the ‘good Samaritan’ walking away.
She thanked him humbly
and he graciously tipped his baseball cap
as he returned to his parked car,
never to be seen again.

Assuming he’d used most of the funds
and just offered her what was left,
she checked the balance
to see how this good deed
could be put to use.

To her surprise,
the card carried
the full balance of $100.
She was dumbfounded!!!

In her time of need,
God sent an angel.
In her time of distress,
her burden was made
just a little bit lighter
so she could keep pressing on.

It may be June 2017
but I’m pleased to know
miracles still happen.
God gives us blessings everyday,
we simply have to
open our hands to receive them.

What Random Act Of Kindness
have you ever given or received?

The evening shift

image

She doesn’t understand why I have to go.
She cries because she wants me home.
It’s all for our family — a better tomorrow,
But today is all that matters to her.

In my heart I hope it’ll all be worth it.
I’m doing my best, pushing to the limit.
One day I hope she’ll truly appreciate,
It’s all for her, our amazing future awaits.
